The BITSAT is the entrance examination for the three BITS campuses at Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad. It is an online examination administered at designated centres across the country. The exam is a single three hour paper with equal weightage to Physics and Chemistry and slightly more to Mathematics. There is also an English section and a Logical Reasoning section. The questions are objective type and carry negative marking.
BITSAT preparation is not significantly different from IIT JEE test preparation. The syllabus is the same as that for the CBSE Std XI and XII. However, as with the IIT JEE, the BITSAT also focuses more on understanding concepts, rather than just facts. All the questions in the BITSAT are single answer multiple choice questions, unlike the JEE where there are questions of many different types. This makes the BITSAT significantly easier as compared to the IIT JEE as a student does not need to modify his thinking depending on question type.
Since the BITSAT is only administered online, having some practice with an online testing environment is necessary. BITSAT preparation must account for this and provide students with adequate exposure to online testing. Ideally the BITSAT Coaching programme should give students some exposure to taking online exams, as students are largely used to paper based exams.
The ClearConcepts engineering entrance preparation programme takes into account the differences in syllabus and includes the BITSAT syllabus in the programme. As a completely online IIT JEE AIEEE BITSAT Test Preparation programme students get ample opportunity to practice online tests as well.
