The AIPMT exam conducted on 3rd May 2015 appears to be fraught with irregularities.

One Ms.Tanvi Sarval filed a petition before the Supreme Court for malpractices in the conduct of the examination. The petition says that at least 90 answer keys were leaked to candidates on payment of Rs. 15-20 Lakhs. The petition seeks that the exam be conducted afresh

A vacation Bench of Justices A.K. Sikri and U.U. Lalit directed the Union of India, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the Medical Council of India and Haryana, where irregularities were detected, to respond and scheduled the next hearing for May 21.

According to news reports, the Haryana police caught some persons sending the answer keys just before the start of the exam. They also provided candidates hidden, hi-tech devices to enable them to cheat during the exams.

The occurrence of such an incident is very sad and disturbing no matter what the outcome of the petition is.

If the petition is dismissed, there will always be doubt that people have got in through unfair means. If it is allowed, there is the pressure of studying all over again for the fresh exams. To say nothing of the lingering doubt that this kind of irregularity may recur.
